2012 Food Bank Gardening Season Kick-Off Party!
By Deb Rock
It's that time of year again!
Please join us at Interbay P-Patch, 2451 15th Avenue West on Tuesday, April 17th, at 5:30 p.m. as we celebrate the start of the 2012 Food Bank Gardening season at Interbay P-Patch. It's time to pull the burlap off the beds and let the sunshine in! After a little weeding, a little planting and the traditional first kale harvest, we'll ladle out some hot soup and fire up the friendship after a long, wet winter!
The economy continues to recover, but there are still plenty of people who need food assistance in Seattle. Without us and others like us, they would have no access to fresh, organic produce. Every year, Interbay P-Patch donates more than 5,000 pounds of delicious veggies that are greatly appreciated by the clients of Ballard Food Bank, Mary's Place and St. Martin's on Westlake. Well over half of that produce is grown in the food bank beds by our fabulous team of volunteers!

Interbay Beekeeping Work Party
By Regina Anderson & Jennifer Carlson
Saturday, April 14th 10:00am-12:00pm Interbay P-patch parking lot
It's time to prepare for our bees at the p-patch!
Please join Regina Anderson and Jennifer Carlson at our spring work party cleaning our beekeeping equipment. We will scrape wax, sort equipment that needs repair, and sign out pieces that need to be repainted. If you have latex paint to donate, please bring it and store in the tool shed next to the bee stuff. This is a great time to ask bee questions and learn more about the beekeeping compound!
See you there! |
