It All Begins With Soil!
By Ray Schutte
There was an issue last week with the link below. It has been fixed and you can now click the link for soil testing. Sorry for any confusion. Here is the submission again~ As you get your garden ready for the upcoming season, consider having your soil tested. You can submit up to 5 samples and have them tested for FREE through the King County Soil Conservation District. Here is how: http://www.kingcd.org/pdf/fact-sheet-soil-testing.pdf Your soil will be tested for organic matter, nitrogen, Phosphorous, Calcium Sodium Sulfur, trace minerals, cations and ph. The test comes back with a set of recommendations and a guide to interpretation. A basic soil test will help you determine what your soil needs. | Help Magnolia Manor Park P-Patch Win $10,000
By Susan Casey
With your vote, this upcoming P-Patch can win $10,000 in the Umpqua Bank Build Your Block contest.

You can only vote once for us on Facebook. Note: I found just typing in 'umpqua' in the search line on the Facebook line worked best. Then look for apps or Build your Block line.

| Work Party - Rebuild The Porta-Potty Platform
By Cathy Van Dyke
Help needed this Saturday to rebuild the porta-potty platform. I know it sounds like lots of fun... but the base is caving in so it's time to rebuild! I will have all the supplies, but I need some help moving the porta-potty and pouring a new, more permanent base. We scheduled the work party for 10-12 but if you would like to participate and another time on Saturday would work (ie: after the Magnolia baseball parade) just let me know because I can't do it on my own.
If you have any questions, please contact me,~

By Sandy Pernitz
Hi Everyone,
I got an email from the folks who walk the dogs wondering about the rat traps folks have in their plots. They are very respectful as they walk the garden, picking up after the dogs and not allowing them into plots, and staying on pathways. But, they are dogs and they see with their noses, so when they sniff into a plot if the trap is too close to the edge it can snap those wet eyes. We are making a request to all of you, please set the traps away from the pathway and more inside your plot. |
